Tika, her forehead wrinkled in concentration, scanned the verb chart she had propped up in front of her. She was sitting coss-legged against the side of an armchair with one of her leather shoes in one hand and a shoe-polish sponge in the other. A fleck of the brownish liquid had flown up onto her cheek during one of her bursts of vigorous scrubbing as she struggled to mask the various scuffs that already covered the relatively new shoe.
"Hablo, hablas, habla, habl--oh drat--um..." she glanced down at the Spanish conjugation chart with a frustrated look on her face. "--Hablamos! Hablamos! Hablamos! Uhhhhh! I keep forgetting!"
With an irritated sigh she laid her head briefly against the chair, her eyes closed as she whispered the verbs over and over, trying to remember them.

Barking made the sweet silence disappear as a dog came crashing into the common room. Hissing and swearing came behind the dog, only a pup, as a seventeen year old girl skidded to a stop and charged after the dog, a tabby kitten clinging to her sholder for dear life.
"OLIE!!! GET BACK HERE! NEXT TIME YOU USE SASHA AS A PLAY TOY, I'LL... I'LL... I'LL DO THINGS YOU DIDN'T EVEN THING WERE POSSILBE YOU MUT!" screamed the girl. "SASHA, GET OFF!" she yelled at the cat. "NOW IS NOT THE TIME!!!!"
The cat hissed at the blond haired girl and jumped off, struting off.
Olie turned and yipped at Sasha, who hissed and took a swipe out at Olie.
Emily swore loudly and grabbed Olie. Looking to the girl who had a brown spot on her cheek, a shoe in her hand, and a chart out infront of her. "Sorry. My dog wanted to play with my cat, and... well... you saw what happened."
She grimiced and growled as Olie began kicking, trying to be free. Sasha just looked at him in disgust.

OOC: Clowey! Nevah took you for a blonde, lol! Hola, dearie!
IC: Tika looked up and grinned at the older girl, and said, "Ya want me to clobber him?" she shook her loafer threateningly and giggled at the look Olie gave her. She stood up, massaging her knees that had gone stiff from sitting there so long, and wiped her hand on the shoe-polish rag before offering it to the other girl.

IC: Emily giggled. "Sure!" she said, holding Olie toward the girl.
Sasha laid down and began licking her paw, her eyes watching the girl, Olie, and Emily.

Tika gently took hold of Olie and sat down in the armchair, cradling the dog's back on her propped up legs as she stared it in the face. Then she took hold of its muzzle and slowly shook it back and forth with her hands, saying, "No, no, no. Bad dog. Don't mess with kitties, for you are crunchy and good with ketchup."
She turned her face up towards the other girl, letting Olie go. "You've got such a sweet dog! A real cutie," she added, scratching Olie on the head. She proffered her hand again. "I'm Tika, by the way."

Olie growled playfuly and began squirming, his tounge hanging out of him mouth, but at least he kept the slober under control! Emily laughed. "Thanks! He was my favorite out of his brothers and sisters. And I'm Emily." She picked Sasha up, but Sasha just hissed and turned her head away. OOC: Ga! Bad post!  |

Tika grinned and scrunched up her face sympathetically. "Haha, and you've forgotten already? Is it that bad? I feel sorry for you. There's a boy in my Spanish class who's been here longer than he can remember," she said, closing the tin of shoe-polish and carefully folding the rag so it wouldn't get the floor black. Then she leaned in close and added in a quiet tone, "and he says that he got a teacher fired!" Her eyes sparkled at the thought of the mischief she'd imagined he'd caused.
